The artist & sculptor Jad Mowakket was born in 1975 in the culturally rich city of Aleppo. His artistic journey began under the mentorship and guidance of his father, the Syrian iconic artist & sculptor AbdulRahman Mwakket, together they collaborated in the creation of numerous artworks.
Active and engaged, Jad participated alongside his father in various ventures, particularly those involving the intricate mediums of marble and bronze. His commitment to artistic expression extended beyond local boundaries, with exhibitions showcasing his work both within Syria and on the international stage.
Jad’s dedication to his craft led him to pursue formal art education, where he honed his sculpting methods and techniques. Under the mentorship of his father, Abd AlRahman Mowakket, he also pursued academic studies in visual arts at the esteemed University of Aleppo.
In 2014, Jad assumed a pivotal role in the art world as he took charge of the sculpture department at the Emmanuel Paul Guiragossian-Beirut Museum. During this period, he generously shared his knowledge and expertise by mentoring young artists under the guidance of the internationally acclaimed artist Emmanuel Guiragossian in Beirut.
Continuing his active involvement in the art scene, Jad consistently participates in exhibitions such as Beirut Art Discovery and Beirut Art Bazar. His passion for fostering artistic growth and cultural exchange led him to establish the Jeem Center for Arts and Culture. In addition, he founded the House for Studies and Publishing, further contributing to the enrichment of the artistic landscape.
Currently based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Beirut, Lebanon, Jad Mowakket continues to inspire through his artistic endeavors, leaving an indelible mark on the world of sculpture and the broader realm of visual arts.
